Olivier Valsecchi — Amazon — 法國 巴黎

Olivier Valsecchi’s new series AMAZON is a gallery of post-apocalyptic portraits where half-prehistoric half-Disney characters are photographed in front of an ancient wall carpet that depicts an eerie jungle. Inspired by Van Eyck and Dürer paintings and the Native Americans, Valsecchi replaced Adam and Eve by Tarzan and Pocahontas look-alikes in order to create his own version of the mythological Garden of Eden from the perspective of childhood and ethnic diversity.

The greenish colour of the background sets an atmosphere of a swampy world, dying from pollution or chaos, that these few survivors are about to leave behind in search for a new horizon. From “Klecksography” to “Drifting”, Valsecchi created his shape and frequency through his diligently constructed narrative, straightforward composition and his chiaroscuro approach of light, along with original concepts and meticulous sense of details. AMAZON will be exhibited at Pierre-Alain Challier Galerie as part of group show L’Homme Nu with Rancinan, Orlan, Hans Withoos and François Rousseau. Opening 25 NOV, 7pm, 8 Rue Debelleyme, 75003 Paris.
